One cyan cartridge. Three capacity choices.
Read across these codes and the pattern becomes much easier to see:
STANDARD
801SC is the shorter product name.
2,000 rated cyan pages.
HIGH
801HC is the shorter product name.
3,000 rated cyan pages.
EXTRA HIGH
801XC is the shorter product name.
4,000 rated cyan pages.
For these specific U.S./Canada Return Program cartridges, S = Standard, H = High and X = Extra High. The next letter identifies the color: K = black, C = cyan, M = magenta and Y = yellow. The final character is the numeral 0, not the letter O.
Keep the complete part number when you order. “801X” names a capacity family, while “80C1XC0” identifies the cyan cartridge within it. This pattern is specific to the range covered here; it is not a rule for every Lexmark supply.

Rated yields follow ISO/IEC 19798 testing. Actual output varies with document coverage, job size and printing conditions. Color figures are per cartridge. Adding four cartridge yields does not give the number of full-color pages a set will print. Reference: Lexmark’s supply table.
Where does 801 without S, H or X fit?
The smaller 1,000-page option
The 80C10 cartridges are a separate lower-capacity choice. Each color, including black, is rated at 1,000 pages. They are not the same as the 80C1S Standard cartridges shown above.
That extra zero is easy to miss. Compare 80C10C0 with 80C1SC0: one is 1,000-page cyan, and the other is 2,000-page cyan.

When labels vary between listings, match the full code and rated yield. Do not choose by the words “high yield” alone.

Do not confuse CX510 with CS510. Similar model numbers do not make their toner interchangeable. Also check the printer’s region, especially for a machine purchased outside the U.S. or Canada. References: Standard compatibility, High compatibility and CX510 supplies.
Which toner set should you choose?
For lighter workloads
Compare the smaller 801 and Standard 801S options. Look at the current set price and how often you print before paying for more capacity.
View 801S set →For a busy CX410
801H is the largest capacity in this comparison supported by the CX410 family. Compare it with 801S using the same box condition and colors.
View 801H set →For a busy CX510
801X offers the largest rated capacity here. It can reduce replacement frequency, especially for black-heavy printing. Check current pricing to see whether it also gives the best value.
View 801X set →You do not need to replace four cartridges just because one is empty. The color chart above links to individual replacements, so you can order the color you need.
Compare the cost per page, not only the price of the set
For a single cartridge, divide its current price by its rated yield. Compare black with black or cyan with cyan, using the same packaging condition.
Black toner
801: price ÷ 1,000
801S: price ÷ 2,500
801H: price ÷ 4,000
801X: price ÷ 8,000
Each color cartridge
801: price ÷ 1,000
801S: price ÷ 2,000
801H: price ÷ 3,000
801X: price ÷ 4,000
For a CX510, Extra High black holds twice the rated capacity of High black. Its estimated toner cost per page is lower when its price is less than twice the High black price. For cyan, magenta or yellow, Extra High provides one-third more rated pages than High, so the equivalent price threshold is about 1.33 times.
This calculation covers toner only, and real-world page counts vary. For a set, do not divide the price by the sum of all four yields: a color page can use multiple cartridges. Our standard vs high-yield guide explains how to compare capacity and cost.
What about 80C0 numbers and Return Program cartridges?
The 80C1 codes in this guide identify the U.S./Canada Return Program options. Other 80C numbers can indicate a different region or cartridge program. A similar-looking number is not enough to confirm a match.
Lexmark’s Return Program includes single-use terms and return to Lexmark for remanufacturing or recycling. It is a cartridge program, not a capacity level. Regular supplies without those terms also exist. See Lexmark’s Return Program explanation and the regional ordering tables.

Lexmark 80C toner questions, answered
What is 80C1XC0?
It is the Lexmark 801XC Extra High cyan Return Program toner cartridge, rated for up to 4,000 pages, for CX510de, CX510dhe and CX510dthe printers in the applicable region.
What is the difference between 801S, 801H and 801X?
S is Standard, H is High and X is Extra High in this range. Black yields are 2,500, 4,000 and 8,000 pages respectively. Color yields are 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 pages per cartridge. Printer support differs by capacity.
Is 80C10C0 the same as 80C1SC0?
No. 80C10C0 is the smaller 1,000-page cyan option. 80C1SC0 is Standard cyan rated at 2,000 pages. Keep the entire number when ordering.
Can a CX410 use 801X Extra High toner?
No. Choose a supported 801, 801S or 801H cartridge for a CX410. The 801X cartridges in this guide are for CX510 models.
Can a CX310 use 801H High toner?
No. For the CX310n and CX310dn, compare the smaller 801 and Standard 801S options.
Does Extra High produce better print quality?
The yield label describes capacity. It is not a higher print-quality setting. Choose capacity based on supported models, printing volume and current price.
Can I buy one cartridge instead of a full set?
Yes. Use the individual black, cyan, magenta and yellow links in this guide. Match the capacity, region and full cartridge number to your printer.
Will I get exactly the rated number of pages?
Not necessarily. Rated yields are measured under standardized test conditions. Your documents and printing conditions affect actual output.
